Step 1 - Apply for Financial Aid
If you have not already done so, it is important to file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) as soon as possible in order to obtain financial aid for your first semester. To shorten the time it takes to process the application, you are encouraged to file online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. Forms also are available from your high school guidance counselor, local library, and the UT Office of Financial Aid. Once you receive your award notification, you will need to review, sign and return it to The University of Toledo, Office of Student Financial Aid, Rocket Hall 1200. If you have been awarded a freshman scholarship, you must sign and return The University of Toledo Scholarship Program Terms and Conditions Form, which was enclosed with your award letter, by May 1 to The University of Toledo, Scholarship Office, Rocket Hall 1100.
Step 2 - Apply for Housing
University of Toledo Residence Halls fill up quickly. Apply early if you plan to live in university housing. It is to your benefit to return you housing application and $200 advance housing payment immediately since priority for assignment to an on-campus residence hall is based on receipt date of the application and advance housing payment. Advance payments are fully refundable until May 1.
Step 3 - Rocket Launch (Orientation)
During Rocket Launch, you will meet with an academic adviser, register for fall semester classes, and get your student ID card. Rocket Launch is a one-day program offered on selected dates from June 15 to July 9. Date options are based on your college and will be mailed to you in April.
You must take placement tests in advance of Rocket Launch. You may do so in room 1569 of Rocket Hall. Hours of operation are Monday, Thursday, and Friday 9:00 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. and Tuesday and Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The phone number for placement testing (room 1569) is 419.530.1269. Please refer to the Rocket Launch brochure (distributed in April) or contact the college to which you were accepted, for information on which placement tests to take.
First Week UT is a program of orientation and welcome activities for new students. It will take place on campus coinciding with Residence Hall move-in. First Week UT is a great way to meet other freshmen before starting classes in August. Information will be mailed to students in July.
Step 4 - Make Payment
The University of Toledo offers a variety of payment methods, including cash, check, electronic direct payment, debit card, and credit card (MasterCard, Discover, American Express). Credit card payments must be made via Student Self Service in the myUT Web portal. The university offers two installment payment plans (4 pay and a 5 pay), which allow you to spread your tuition payments over the semester. Installment payment plan applications can be obtained via Web for Students or at the Bursar's Office in Rocket Hall. Completed applications along with the first monthly payment must be returned to the Bursar's Office by the deadline stated in your invoice. After this deadline, payment must be made on the same day as registration. Once a student has registered for classes, billing information may be obtained online via the myUT web portal Self Service channel or in the Office of the Registrar in Rocket Hall.
