THE DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TOLEDO invites applications or nominations for tenure-track faculty positions in all areas of chemistry beginning August 2008. Candidates with research interests in organic chemistry or bioanalytical chemistry are particularly encouraged to apply. A Ph.D. degree in chemistry or a related field is required; postdoctoral experience is preferred. The successful candidate will be expected to teach in one of the traditional areas of chemistry at both the undergraduate and graduate (MS and Ph.D.) level, and to develop a vigorous, externally funded research program in an area complementary to existing department strengths in biological and materials chemistry. Structural Biology
THE DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TOLEDO invites applications or nominations for a tenure-track faculty position in applications of X-ray crystallography or NMR techniques in Structural Biology beginning August, 2008. This appointment will complement existing department strengths in biochemistry, and is part of a university wide strategic hiring plan to enhance research in biotechnology across the university. The Department of Chemistry is the home of the Ohio Crystallography Consortium and a member of APS SERCAT. Crystallography facilities have been recently upgraded with the addition of an FRE high brilliance diffractometer and crystallization robotics and imaging. The Department of Chemistry is also a member of the Ohio NMR consortium and facility upgrades include a 600 MHz NMR and access to a 900 MHz NMR. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. degree in chemistry or a closely related field, will be expected to develop a vigorous, externally funded research program at the doctoral level in structural biology, will have a commitment to excellence in teaching of chemistry or biochemistry at both the undergraduate and graduate level, and will participate in university wide research initiatives.
