LEC Events
The Lake Erie Center is open to the public Monday-Friday from 9:00am-4:30pm. Weekly guided tours are offered on Wednesday at 10:00am, and generally take 30-45 minutes. Interested parties should meet in the lobby of the LEC.

  • Movie Screening.  "Inland Seas: Understanding and Protecting the Waters of the Great Lakes," Rebecca Klaper and Matt Radcliff, funded by Wisconsin Coastal Management, UWM Great Lakes WATER Institute, and Paignton Pictures. August 28, 2008, 7:00pm (Open to the Public)

  • Public Talk Series. "Hypoxia in Lake Erie," Dr. Gerald Matisoff, Professor and Chair of Sedimentary and Environmental Geochemistry, Department of Geological Sciences, Case Western Reserve University. September 18, 2008, 7:00 PM (Open to the Public)

  • Public Talk Series.  "Food, Fertilizer, Fish, and Fouled Beaches: Water Quality in the Maumee River and the Western Basin of Lake Erie, 1975 to Present," Dr. Peter Richards, Heidelburg College Water Quality Laboratory.  Thursday, October 16th, 2008, 7:00 PM (Open to the Public)

  • Public Talk Series.  "Lake Erie's Dead Zone: Who Killed It?"  Dr. Robert Heath, Director of the Water Resources Research Institute and Professor, Department of Biological Sciences, Kent State University.  Thursday, November 6th, 2008, 7:00 PM (Open to the Public)
