
Carl Collins (conductor) – Carl Collins is Visiting Assistant Professor and Assistant Director of Bands in the Department of Music at The University of Toledo, where he conducts the Symphonic Band and the Rocket Marching Band, supervises the Varsity Band, and teaches courses in marching band techniques, brass methods, and music theory. His previous teaching experience includes eight years as a high school band director in the public schools of eastern Iowa.Mr. Collins received his Bachelor of Music degree in clarinet performance and music education from the University of Iowa in 1995, and returned to complete the Master of Arts degree in Band Conducting in 2005. Principal conducting teachers have included Dr. Myron Welch and James Dixon. He has studied clarinet with Dr. Maurita Murphy Mead and Himie Voxman.
Mr. Collins is active as a guest conductor, clinician, music arranger, and marching band drill designer throughout the Midwest. His professional affiliations include the College Band Directors National Association, Music Educators National Conference, Ohio Alliance for Arts Education, and the World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Ohio Alliance for Arts Education, and is the Advocacy Chair for District 1 of the Ohio Music Education Association.
