Sylvia Carter
Sylvia Carter is a native of Toledo Ohio and also a past graduate of The University of Toledo. She is pleased to be in familiar surroundings and excited for the opportunity to direct Topdog/Underdog. Her past directing credits at UT are: Ain’t Misbehavin’ and For Colored Girls Who have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf. Sylvia most recently directed Cuttin’ Up and Pressin’ On, performed by the Clarence Smith Community Chorus.

Sylvia is also a professional actress. She has performed in live theatre for more than twenty-five years. Her most recent performance was in Menopause the Musical at the Apollo Theatre in Chicago. When Sylvia is not performing, she holds the position of Education Director for the Outreach Department at Victory Gardens Theatre. As Education Director, she is responsible for the Integrated Arts Program, Student Matinees, Student Playwriting workshops, and Teacher Training workshops. Lovingly, she thanks her family and friends for their love and support and God for her talent.
