    Job 899, Nurse Practitioner, Student Medical Center - Owens Community College

    Job 899 ~ Nurse Practitioner, Student Medical Center - Owens Community College:

    The Nurse Practitioner provides primary and acute medical care to the UT students, faculty, and staff in a specialized area; provides educational services for the student population and other health care providers; contributes to development and maintenance of the health care delivery system within the University setting; and reports to the Medical Director at the Student Medical Center.  Medical care duties include initial contact and assessment of the patient’s health care problems and needs, and the responsibility for supporting continuity of care by providing independent and dependent nursing services making appropriate referrals and encouraging health maintenance and preventive care.  This position will be 20 hours per week 12:00pm – 5:00pm Monday through Thursday.

    • Maintain current licensure as a registered nurse through the State of Ohio Board of Nursing.
    • Maintain current Certificates of Authority through the State of Ohio Board of Nursing.
    • Maintain a current certificate to prescribe.
    • Practice with a current, signed Standard Care Agreement. Specific elements to be included in a standard care agreement are enumerated in the Ohio Revised Code section 4723.431.  This agreement is to be reviewed and signed annually.
    • Practice under the University of Toledo Nurse Practitioner Clinical Procedures, and scope of training/delineation of privileges.
    • Nationally certified as a Nurse Practitioner.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively and work cooperatively with students and University SMC personnel.
    • Excellent leadership skills.
    • Knowledge and analytical abilities necessary to assess client condition, evaluate needs, make appropriate referral and consultation with University SMC Chief of Medicine and other SMC physicians and design and implement effective educational programs and plans for care.
    • Three to five years of experience as a professional nurse and educator, with experience in community care or primary health care delivery desirable.
    • Demonstrate proficiency in word processing, e-mail, and internet.
    • BLS Certification
