    997364 Grounds Manager, Facilities

    Job 997364 Grounds Manager, Facilities:

    This position provides management and training for grounds personnel and participates in care, maintenance and renovation of grounds, snow removal, etc.  It includes the planning and implementation of planting of turf, flowers, trees, and shrubs for all three campuses.  Prepares and maintains the annual budget related to grounds, roads, parking garages, and parking lots.  Motivates employees, enforces standards, ensures that proper horticultural practices are applied.  Manages outer maintenance using interior and exterior resources to provide basic functions of the department. Monitors and prioritizes the work load /requests. Will manage external projects.  Maintains a safe and aesthetic environment for the UT community.

    The requirements for the position include an Associates Degree in Ornamental Horticultural, Turf Management or related field; Bachelors degree preferred.  3-5 years experience managing in the green industry required.  1 year experience in creating and maintaining budgets is required.  Must acquire pesticide and ornamental applicator’s license within one year of start date.  Commercial Driver License (CDL) with air brake endorsement is required within 6 months of start date.  Maintains a valid driver’s license and must be insurable under the University of Toledo’s driving policies.  Knowledge of horticulture, state and/or federal laws, rules, regulations and /or procedures related to care, health, and propagation of plants.  Proven managerial skills and ability to relate to fellow workers.
