    Job XRAYMA, Diagnostic Radiology X-Ray Staff Technologist with Medical Assistant responsibilities, Student Medical Center: 

    The Rad. Tech. with MA responsibilities reports to the Medical Director, through the Associate Director and Lead Nurse, at the Student Medical Center in regards to medical assistant responsibilities. This individual performs radiographic procedures at a technical level not requiring constant supervision of technical detail under the direction from the Department of Radiology on the Health Campus and performs a variety of technical procedures that will require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed ionizing radiation for radiologic diagnosis. He/she assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures, as required. This individual serves as an ambassador of UT in the community, demonstrating our organization's values, services and mission. Performs medical assistant functions.

                The Medical Assistant (MA) provides individualized, direct patient care of patients under the supervision of a physician. The MA assists in the implementation of the delivery of health care services, assists fellow employees in providing the highest quality personalized patient care, and maintains a positive work relationship with the health care team. Administers medications only under the directions, supervision and control of the physician. Takes care of patients from young adult (college level) and adults. Care will be directed at taking vital signs. assisting patients to room, and assisting other health care team members recognizing that every age group has unique developmental characteristics influencing the approach that should be utilized in caring for these patients.  Pay Grade 30.

    Requirements include

    • High school diploma or equivalent; satisfactory completion of formal radiological technology training in an AMA-approved school and meets the requirements for registry by the ARRT. Must be licensed by the State of Ohio.
    • Graduate from an approved School of Medical Assisting.
    • Certification or registration as a Medical Assistant preferred.
    • Previous Ambulatory Care nursing experience preferred.
    • Possesses knowledge and skills in techniques of good patient care and maintains competency through continuing education.
    • Exhibits accuracy, integrity, and flexibility to work multiple outpatient areas.
    • Motivated to plan and organize work, and to work without supervision.
    • Is tactful and courteous in dealing with patients and visitors. Able to maintain an effective working relationship with personnel and the medical staff.
    • Must be punctual and dependable.
    • Obtains and maintains certification in CPR after employment.
    • Successfully completes clinic specific competencies.
    • Demonstrates clinical competency in caring for patients as identified in unit's Scope of Care. Demonstrates competency in the care of the patient in the following stages of the life cycle: adolescents, adults, and geriatrics.
    • Effectively responds to customer service needs.
        • Demonstrates effective age and culturally appropriate interaction with patients, families, and other members of the health care team.
        • Adheres to the University of Toledo Customer Service values.
        • Seeks out ways to assist patients and co-workers.
    • Actively participates in performance improvement activities as related to job duties.
