    T98976 Research Technician, Biological Sciences

    Job T98976 ~ Research Technician, Biological Sciences:

    This primary function of this position is to help perform research and contribute to the direction of the research program in a National Institute of Health funded laboratory.  The focus of the research program is to find a possible mechanism for chemotherapeutic drug resistance in ovarian cancer.  The Research Technician will work with the supervisor to determine experimental design for the analyses and will then carry out the methods once approved.  The primary duties of this position will be to perform preliminary laboratory tests on collected samples and established tumor cell lines, assist with scheduling procedures, and keep accurate records of data. This position will also be responsible for the daily maintenance of assigned research laboratory. 

    Bachelors Degree in Biology, Genetics, or related field of study required, Masters Degree is preferred.  The position requires knowledge of basic laboratory techniques, procedures, methods, and analysis.  Experience in RNA isolation and routine culture of mammalian cells is desirable.  Experience in molecular biology techniques as evidenced by publication in peer-reviewed journals will be preferred.  Physical requirements include good near visual acuity and color acuity to perform fluorescent microscopy.

    The hours for this position are flexible.  If needed, must come in on weekends to set up experiments for the following week.  This is a grant funded position.  Salary to be commensurate with education and experience.
