The University has a site license for the SPSS product and SPSS is the statistical package of choice for UT. However, if a department desires an installation of SAS, IT has procured a block of 200 SAS licenses at significantly lower cost than individual licenses and these are available for installation by IT as desired by UT personnel. These licenses must be installed for use in educational, research or University administrative support activities.
The reduced cost of these SAS licenses are billed back to the requesting department on an annual basis.
The initial acquisition cost is billed in the year the license is originally requested and a reduced annual maintenance fee is assessed for each year the license key is renewed. The FY08 license costs are:
$150.00 - initial year of acquisition (includes first year’s maintenance)
$ 67.75 - annual maintenance renewal
When IT receives a request for a SAS installation, the process for acquiring a license from the pool of licenses is as follows:
I. The following information is obtained from the requestor regarding the location of the SAS installation and billing account:
- Department Name
- Person assigned to the computer
- Computer ID number
- Physical location of computer (building, room)
- Index number to be billed
II. Send this information to Kay Vargo who will record the license and bill the department’s Index number
III. Install the SAS software and the current license key
The University’s SAS license key expires annually on September 30. Upon renewal of the license key, IT will bill the department for the annual maintenance fee.
