- In many programs, graduate students work as graduate teaching or research assistants in exchange for remission of tuition cost and a departmental stipend.
- Most students are considered for assistantships by meeting the departmental deadline for addmissions (check with the department for this date) and/or The College of Graduate Studies priority deadline for admissions.
- Students may opt to submit the graduate assistantship form with their application if the department does not require a specific application.
Scholarships and Financial Aid
Most international students will find it difficult to study in the United States without receiving direct support from the department or program.
International students are not eligible for scholarship and federal financial aid, which means the graduate assistantship offered by the department is the best opportunity for support.
Under no circumstances should international students assume financial assistance will be provided if they show up without a documented guarantee of support from the department in the way of a graduate assistantship.
