The Department of Mathematics offers Master's degrees in Pure Mathematics‚ Applied Mathematics and Statisitcs. It offers doctoral degrees in Mathematics and Statistics. Master’s degrees are normally completed in two years with 30 hours of credit and doctoral degrees after five years.

After completing two years of study and passing written examinations in two out of four areas students can pursue virtually any area of research in pure‚ applied mathematics or statistics.
Admission Information
Students must take the general GRE and international students must also take the TOEFL test. They must have an undergraduate degree in mathematics or statistics. Students must compose a statement of purpose indicating their plans for Graduate School and future career intentions. They must also arrange for two or preferably three letters of recommendation to be sent to the Graduate School.
The Mathematics Department considers applications at any time. Students are normally expected to begin their studies in the fall semester as the program functions much like a cohort. All students looking for funding considerations should observe the January 15th priority deadline. Students should complete the teaching assistantship provided by the Graduate College and complete a resume or vita to strengthen their application. Students must keep in close contact with the Graduate Director if they wish to be seriously considered.
