PROGRAM OVERVIEW
The demand for highly qualified accounting graduates is growing nationwide — there's an increasing number of senior positions being offered to candidates with advanced degrees. Recent college graduates seeking entry level positions find an advanced degree is becoming the standard requirement for the accounting profession.
The master of science in accountancy (MSA) degree program at The University of Toledo was designed to meet the needs of the professional in accounting and to qualify candidates to sit for the CPA examination in Ohio. UT’s MSA program combines the resources of a large metropolitan research university with the advantages of a small school to offer students a powerful experience that will prepare them for career advancement.

MSA students also can use the services of the Business Career Programs office located in Stranahan Hall. Career development seminars include resume writing, cover letter writing, mock interviews and successful job search strategies.
CURRICULUM INFORMATION
The master of science in accountancy degree is a 30-semester-hour program. The degree typically includes 21 semester hours of accounting classes and nine semester hours of diversification electives.

Every MSA applicant’s background is evaluated and an individualized plan of study is developed with the program director.
ADMISSIONS INFORMATION
Generally, students with GMAT scores of 500 or higher and a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or higher will be admitted to the MSA program.
Applications are accepted for entry in the fall, spring and summer terms. Most students begin the program in the summer or fall terms to facilitate appropriate sequencing of courses. Applicants are encouraged to apply as early as possible to ensure that their applications are processed and that they can be admitted for the term they want.
Students interested in graduate assistantships are encouraged to apply for these awards by April 1 for the following academic year.
