    Dean's Welcome

Welcome to the College of Health Science and Human Service:

I personally invite you to come join us in our classrooms, come join us in our laboratories, and learn in a diverse environment.  The College of Health Science and Human Service is here to offer you quality professional programs that make a difference in the lives of others and in society.

In the College of Health Science and Human Service students take the knowledge learned in the classrooms and apply it in the college’s state-of-the-art laboratories and clinics to simulate real world situations. Teaching and learning in this college are not limited to campus, but includes more than 400 agencies in northwest Ohio and southern Michigan as the college places a heavy emphasis on internships, externships, and practicum.  Available resources to students within the college’s programs support, augment and enrich the educational experiences at The University of Toledo.

The college’s eleven departments are committed to excellence in both the health science and human service disciplines.  The college’s 22 nationally accredited programs are reviewed by 15 discipline specific accrediting agencies.  The performance on national and state credentialing examinations is well above the national average for all programs with many programs boasting 100% pass rates. The curriculum of course work and experiential learning available in the college prepares its graduates well for the professional life that follows.

The college’s dynamic faculty who hold both academic credentials and professional credentials are actively involved in teaching, practice and research that adds to the body of knowledge of their disciplines.  Graduate and undergraduate students are active participants in this learning environment.

I hope you will join the faculty and staff of the College of Health Science and Human Service as we provide the highest quality programs in an environment that focuses on student success and community impact.

    Warmest Regards,

Margaret F. Traband, M.Ed., RRT, FAARC
    Interim Dean
