The strength of the Ward M. Canaday Center Manuscript Collection is documenting the political, social, and economic history of Toledo and northwest Ohio from the late nineteenth century to the present. Among the historical manuscript collections described in this guide are papers of labor leaders, politicians and entertainers; poets, playwrights and authors; feminists, educators and other individuals, as well as archives and records of local businesses, clubs, charitable organizations, and corporate entities.
The information in this guide was compiled from detailed finding aids prepared by Canaday Center staff. Each entry provides basic information about a particular collection: the name of the person or agency that created the collection, inclusive dates, a very brief biographical or historical sketch with dates of existence, a scope and content note, the collection number and size. Some unprocessed materials are also included in this guide; access to these collections may be limited. Finding aids will be linked to entries on an ongoing basis.
