Experience
Professor Hickam has been the Librarian for the College of Health Science and Human service and the Libraries’ Liaison to UT Athletics since 2004. Prior to coming to The University of Toledo, Professor Hickam was the Head of Reference at the Mansfield campus of The Ohio State University for five years.
Research Interests
Professor Hickam’s research interests involve learning styles, educational psychology, information seeking behaviors, and the preservation of music literature and recordings.

Our paper discusses our project with Bowling Green State University to establish a special collection of books, magazines, and recordings on heavy metal music and culture within the Sound Recordings Archive.
- Book Chapter of above paper is to appear in an e-book and a print book published by Critical Issues. Professor Atwood and I will also incorporate surveys of select rock music archives and museums into an academic paper on this project.
