Experience
Maria has been the Reference/Education Librarian at the Mulford Library since March 2006. She coordinates as well as provides library education programs, such as tours, orientations, demonstrations, and course-related instruction to the Health Science Campus community; and also works with students, faculty, and staff to identify instructional needs and to develop programs to fulfill those needs. Maria also assists in developing virtual library services such as online tutorials, web pages, and help sheets. In addition to her educational duties, Maria participates in providing a variety of reference services in the library (face-to-face, phone, email, and chat), meets with faculty and staff in their offices or labs, and conducts literature searches for clinical care and research. Her faculty appointment is in the Department of Physical Therapy, providing such services as individualized library instruction as well as consulting services and other department functions. She is one of the instructors for the Mulford Library's elective for fourth-year medical students, "Mastering the Biomedical Literature: Skill Sets for the Virtual Environment." Prior to her work as Reference/Education Librarian, Maria worked as a library graduate assistant at Bowling Green State Unversity and worked at the Mulford Library service desk from 1999-2003.
