PubMed is a version of MEDLINE provided by the National Library of Medicine (NLM), National Center for Biotechnology Information. Although it was originally designed to link genetic sequence data to the published literature, it is now used by many people to search MEDLINE, plus other data sets like PREMEDLINE (newly published articles not yet indexed in MEDLINE) and OLDMEDLINE (articles indexed before 1966; currently goes back to the 1950's). For more information about PubMed, see the NLM PubMed Fact Sheet.
The NLM Gateway is an interface that allows multi-resource searching of NLM information resources. Search results are grouped by type of resource (Journals, Books/Serials/Audiovisuals, Meeting Abstracts, Databanks, and Consumer Health). For more information about the Gateway, see the Nov-Dec 2000 article from the NLM Technical Bulletin.
