There are many versions of MEDLINE, with the main difference being the interface. The quality of the interface can make the difference between a messy MEDLINE search and precise search. The Mulford Library provides access to a number of versions of MEDLINE (OhioLink, PubMed, EBSCOhost, MD Consult); a comparison sheet is available.
OhioLINK MEDLINE
Most recent 5 years
1950-present *
1950-1965 (OLDMEDLINE) *
The OhioLINK interface is the most powerful search interfaces provided by the Mulford Library, making it easy to do powerful searches. It includes links to related records, full-text of the articles (if available), and local journal information. Access is restricted to faculty, residents, staff, and students who are registered with the University of Toledo Libraries or any other OhioLINK library.
* The 1950-present segment of MEDLINE includes references from 1950-1966 that have updated medical subject headings; to search all references from OLDMEDLINE (including those without updated subject headings), search OLDMEDLINE separately.

PubMed

PubMed is the free version of MEDLINE made available by National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI) at the National Library of Medicine (NLM). Searchers on the University of Toledo Health Science Campus or those who are registered with the Mulford Library should search PubMed using this link; it tells PubMed to show information about locally-available online journals. To include locally-available online journals for the PubMed search via the Entrez cross-database search page use this URL: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/gquery/gquery.fcgi?holding=ohiolinklib,mcolib_fft,f1000&otool=ohiolink
