Study Limit: How Long You May Study at ALI
The Immigration and Naturalization Service sets one year as a reasonable length of time for intensive English language training. This is the length of time required to complete five levels of the ALI. A student who is unable to meet the University's English language proficiency requirements for either full-time or transition academic status at the end of the 5th term of full-time ALI study will have only one more opportunity to demonstrate language proficiency. If the student is in the middle of a semester, it will be the remaining term of that semester. If the student has just completed a semester, it will be the following semester. A student who does not earn admission in that last opportunity may no longer study at the ALI.
