The University of Toledo requires that international students purchase medical and hospitalization insurance.

The same insurance coverage is available for dependents of international students for an extra cost, and can be purchased at the Student Medical Center.
Your health insurance coverage begins two weeks prior to the start of classes. If you arrive prior to this you should consider getting another insurance to cover you until the University’s insurance begins. Dental work is not covered by the student health insurance plan, and it is very expensive in the United States. If you need dental work, we recommend that you get it done before you leave your country.
Unless you are sponsored by your government or you can prove that you have comparable health insurance to cover you while in the United States, you will have to pay for it at the time of registration each semester.
International students that already have comparable health insurance (equal coverage) should contact the health insurance office at the Student Medical Center (419-530-3466) or e-mail Tish Fournier pfourni@utnet.utoledo.edu They will be given a waiver, if it is determined their insurance qualifies.
