    Renewing a Student Visa
    • Form I-20 (must have been endorsed for travel) Allow one business day for it to be signed.

    Back of I-20

Valid Passport (for a minimum of six months beyond your U.S. reentry date)

    • Recent Financial Documentation (should correspond to the source of funding indicated on your Form I-20) demonstrating a continuous means of support
    • Evidence of your Intent to Depart the U.S. after completion of program of study (i.e., letter from family, letter from employer, evidence that you own property, prosperous economy/job market, etc.)
    • Verification of maintenance of status (i.e., official transcript, enrollment letter, etc.)

You may go to any U.S. Embassy or Consulate in the world to request either an initial or a renewed visa.  Presently the Department of State prefers that individuals request U.S. visas at a U.S. Embassy or Consulate in either your home country or country of foreign residence.  Exceptional cases will be considered (i.e., the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in your country is closed).
