    Reveiving Your Social Security Number

    After Completion of I-9 Form

    You must report to the Social Security Administration Office:

    Hours:

    Monday through Friday 9:00 am to 4:00 pm

    Check-list of Items to Bring with you:

    • Passport
    • Form I-20
    • Form I-94
    • Letter verifying on-campus employment written by the OISS office and your Department

    • Replacing a lost Social Security Card

    • How do I change my name on my Social Security Card?

    • Why is it taking so long for me to receive my SSN?  "If you’re a noncitizen, we must verify your documents with the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) before we issue a SSN card. We will issue the card within two days of receiving verification from DHS. Most of the time, we can quickly verify your documents online with DHS. If DHS can’t verify your documents online, it may take several weeks or months to respond to Social Security's request. For more details, please see the answer to the Frequently Asked Question, How is SSA protecting Social Security numbers?"-Information taken directly from Social Security Administration web site.

    After you receive your Social Security Card:

    All Graduate Students: Must report to the Graduate School Office, University Hall, Room 3240 Take with you your Social Security Card and your Student Identification card.

    All Other Students:  Must report to the Office of Career Services, Student Employment, Student Union.  Take with you your Social Security Card and your Student Identification Card.
