| UT receives recognition for transferring technology to commercial sector The University of Toledo for excellence in licensing new technology and generating spin-off companies. UT receives international recognition for transferring technology to the commercial sector | |
|
Recently, two independent presentations that highlighted UT’s and Akron’s technology transfer successes were presented at the Annual Meeting of The Association of University Technology Managers (AUTM). AUTM is the largest & most prestigious international university technology transfer organization. The San Diego meeting was attended by 2000 persons, with about 600 international participants. "Tech Transfer (TT) is just not for the Stanford's & MIT's anymore. A recent report by Innovation Associates for the NSF TT & Commercialization Partnerships shows that universities with more modest research budgets and those located in more economically challenged areas are becoming increasingly successful in technology transfer and commercialization. Academic institutions, such as Iowa State, Brigham Young, the Univ. Of Akron and the Univ. Of Toledo, are more productive in executing licenses & launching start-ups than some better known universities. These universities score in the top ten nationally for new/active licenses and/or start-ups, relative to research expenditures." Innovation Associates, is a very highly regarding consulting firm with which neither UT nor Akron have any affiliation. http://www.innovationassociates.us/
