    Student Information

    Eligibility for Accommodations

    Eligibility for accommodations under Section 504 of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 is based on the existence of a physical or mental condition that substantially impacts academic and campus life. In order to receive reasonable accommodations, students must present documentation of disability that meets the Office of Accessibility guidelines.

    • Chronic Health Disability
    • Psychiatric Disability
    • Hearing Impairment/Deaf
    • Traumatic Brain Injury
    • Learning Disability
    • Visual Impairment/Blind

    Procedures to Access Services

    Persons with disabilities may be found eligible for accommodations after they have

    1. Become established as students or employees.
    2. Presented documentation of the disability that meets Office of Accessibility guidelines.
    3. Had the documentation reviewed by an Office of Accessibility professional.
    4. Completed an intake interview.

    The accommodations listed below are the more common accommodations implemented for students with disabilities. Appropriate accommodations are determined by documentation content, the parameters of the course, and the professor's learning goals.

    These support services are short term and are directly related to a student issue. They are not designed to replace other services or courses offered by The University of Toledo.

    The University of Toledo Support Services

    The University of Toledo provides the following support services at no charge to enrolled students. In addition, to these general services, individual colleges offer services specific to their domain. The Office of Accessibility strongly encourages students with disabilities to supplement their accommodations and support services through the Office of Accessibility with the free services offered by The University of Toledo and the individual colleges.

    Scholarships

    The University of Toledo through the Office of Financial Aid offers a limited number of scholarships for students registered with the Office of Accessibility.
